Why It’s Time to Love Your Leggings Again

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVWC chapter.

They’re stretchy. They’re comfy. They’re our favorite substitute for pants! Leggings are a great way to have fashion on the go.

Leggings are mainly revered for their comfort. The elastic material is wonderful for all body sizes and moves with the body without feeling restrictive.

However, leggings have gotten a bad rap with the idea that they are “lazy fashion.” This is far from the truth. leggings, thanks to their form-fitting design, show a great curve of the leg and hips.

Also, there are so many options for leggings. They can be a great basic for a neutral ensemble by wearing black or solid-color leggings. Or, for some added fun, you can find leggings with prints, iconic designs and wide ranges of eclectic colors. There are even themed leggings for the holidays, seasons, talents and movie characters.

While it is true that before they became an everyday fashion staple, leggings were worn for physical activities like exercise or yoga, there is still a different look associated with active wear leggings compared to fashion leggings. They are more durable, have sporty designs and sometimes fit differently. The rule for the legging look is most normal leggings can double as active wear, but active wear cannot double as fashion leggings. This is because, no matter what you pair them with, active wear is going to look like active wear.

Now you know how to fall in love with your leggings and incorporate them into your active lifestyle!

Stay classy, ladies!

I am adopted from Russia and was raised in West Virginia. I am a double major in English (Writing Concentration) and Musical Theatre. I love art in many different forms be it writing, singing, acting, drawing/painting, or design. I adore fashion and it has helped me become the person that I want to be in life. I am a very open person and love talking to people, so feel free to ask me anything! I am honored to be a part of the Her Campus team and I hope that my writing will bring you a smile. If I'm not in the theater or typing up my version of the great American fashion column, you can always hear me coming from the click of my heels. My advice to all: Stay classy!
