Ahhh, fall. The leaves are changing, were exchanging our high-waisted shorts and bralettes for thrifty oversized sweaters and sweatpants. Fall is the time of year when everyone gets settled in for the oncoming winter days; everyone is curling up with a hot cup of coffee/tea or with a significant other— even if that significant other is an animal. But what could be missing from such a cozy scene?… A book! What a wonderful way to spend some time in a world not of your own. Are you wondering how you can step up your bookshelf game? Pick up these top 5 books that are sure to keep you feeling all warm and cozy for the rest of the year.

1. J.K. Rowling: The Harry Potter Series

All my Potterheads out there can attest to this recommendation. I mean, come on. Who wouldn’t want to get lost in the world of highly attractive wizards and witches, epic battles, and the greatest thing of all… MAGIC!

2. Stephen King: IT

“We all float here.” Hold on to your paper boats, kiddies. This horror fiction will get you into the Halloween spirit. Balloons, blood and a clown. It’s like a messed-up child’s birthday party.

3. Anthony E. Zuiker: The Dark Origins Series

This three-part murder mystery will bring all those creepy nightmares to life. The series is centered on a clever and cunning serial killer who will do any and everything to see this man and his family dead.

4. Madeleine Roux: Asylum Series

Yes, I know this is considered to be a part of the teen indie genre, and the use of asylums is cliché, but who wouldn’t want to experience a mind-bending read that involves an abandoned asylum-turned-college prep school. Mind you its haunted but what’s really going on it there?

5. Stephanie Meyer: The Twilight Saga

I know all my twi-hard fans are still alive and well, and I’m bringing back this wonderful throwback classic. Vampires, werewolves, a love triangle. What a way to revisit my old, inner-emo ways.

Happy reading, collegiettes!

HCXO!
