Almost everyone has at least one social media account. It may be a simple Twitter feed, the picture-palooza of Instagram or even the Facebook account you check religiously.
But how can we use social media to our advantage? It seems like every time I check one of my accounts, an hour has flown by before I realize it. It feels like a huge waste of time!
So instead of looking at hundreds of your friends’ selfies, 140-character blurbs and other useless information, let’s take a look at Pinterest and five ways you can use it to help you excel:
1. Getting Prepared
Pinterest is an excellent site for those who need a little extra help getting back into the groove this back to school season. I have spent hours researching ways to get and stay prepared for college.
This idea also applies to classes. You can find a TON of information on the best ways to set up your class binders, how to take notes for different types of classes and even tips on how to study for better grades. The more you know, the more you can modify it to fit your life.
2. Getting Organized
A lot of preparedness comes with being organized; they almost go hand in hand. Pinterest can help tremendously with finding different ways to organize every facet of your life on campus. From how to feng shui your room, to organizing your planner, to weekly cleaning schedules, Pinterest has almost anything you may ever want to find. Use it to your advantage!
3. Getting Simple
You can use Pinterest to help simplify your life. I often do things the “hard way,” as most of us do. But with an easy search you can find ways to simplify, from “life hacks” to short-handing notes so they are understandable.
We all know that time is a precious commodity at college and every minute we can save is time much needed!
4. Getting Focused
One of my favorite things to do is research my major on Pinterest. You can find blogs and articles from people who have been in your shoes. I have a board entitled “Path to Success” where I pin my favorite articles and advice.
Sometimes it’s hard to stay focused on what we want in life, but by reading these accounts you can take the advice and better visualize where you want your life to go.
5. Getting it together
In college, we’re all becoming our own person and getting a taste of what it’s like to live in the real world. Pinterest has helped me in finding ways to manage my life as an adult. From financial planning to building up my resume and planning for the future ahead, Pinterest is chocked full of useful information to help us get it all together!
So now instead of wasting time procrastinating on Pinterest, get productive. You never know what you might find! So get searching—and happy Pinning!
