Dear Collegiette,
As the month of March comes to a close, April is always waiting around the corner. The month of immense sunshine and natural bloom is one to look forward to. However, when it comes to college, April is not nearly as exciting. Quizzes, extra-curricular events, essays, meetings, Greek life responsibilities, and more begin to flood our planners. The free time that could be spent outside enjoying the lovely April air is now being devoted solely to “adulting.” It is not easy, collegiette. Trust me, I understand the immense struggle you are enduring. I can relate to the late nights you spend working through assignments while fighting off the discouraging thoughts that enter your sleep-deprived mind. I realize that you may not want to continue this journey. It is easier to give in, to submit to the challenge and prepare for a new journey.
But I promise you collegiette, this adventure is worth fighting for. It is worthwhile to persevere through those seemingly endless nights to prepare your assignments or study for your exam. It is not useless to devote hours to an essay when you receive an A. The dark circles under your eyes, the empty stomach that missed breakfast, and the quiet heart yearning for home will rejoice at your achievements. So collegiette, I encourage you to continue fighting against the April showers that may cover you in the weeks to come. Do not allow the overwhelming flow of worry or fear exhaust your inspiring spirit. The burdens may fill your boots and weigh you down, but do not allow them to stop you from moving forward. Prepare your umbrella. Set out your raincoat. Embark on the journey, even if the wind is swirling and you cannot seem to keep yourself grounded. The challenges will strengthen you, feed your determined spirit and your hungry soul. Take advantage of the April showers, for they will transform you into a beautiful, beaming May flower.
Â
Sincerely,
Arin
