I’m an RA, and I just changed my bulletin board. I’m really excited about it! Here’s a fun fact about me: I love Peanuts. I am allergic to the actual nut (I guess that’s two fun facts), so what I mean is that I love Charles M. Schulz, Linus, Lucy, Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the gang. Those Peanuts.
(Right, back on track!) I finished my bulletin board and my new door decorations, and I am really excited because I made them Peanuts themed as well! I made Charlie Brown shirts for the boys, and the girls were given Snoopy houses.
My bulletin board’s theme is “Happiness Is…” I didn’t know until last night that the “Happiness Is” pictures you see on Pinterest, Facebook and Twitter feeds actually come from a song on “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” (I watched that while making door decorations to set the mood.) I’ve encouraged anyone to write what happiness is to them on the board because I think happiness is greater when it’s shared with others.
As you’ve probably already noticed, I was inspired by my board to make my blog about what makes me happy. I won’t go through all the things that make me happy, but here are some that maybe we all can relate to:
1. Happiness is sharing a BIG hug!
I love hugs! They are warm and inviting, and I think everyone deserves a hug, especially if they’re mean and grumpy. Unhappy people are probably having a bad day, and maybe their only wish is that someone would care about them enough to give them a hug. And I like BIG hugs. I like hugs that last!
2. Happiness is reading a good book!
For example, I’m reading The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon right now, and it is an incredible book. I can barely put it down once I pick it up, which can be a problem when I have other work to do for other classes!
3. Happiness is good coffee!
If I can’t see the bottom of the cup, and there is a good taste to the coffee, I am a happy child. If it’s not good tasting coffee, as my dad says, “I’ll drink it until it is.”
4. Happiness is a nap!

5. Happiness is having a class cancelled!
Initially, it was “Happiness is having your least favorite class cancelled,” but I don’t care if it’s my favorite class or my least favorite. I still rejoice just as much when I have a little extra time to get other stuff done!
6. Happiness is a road trip with a friend!
There’s nothing like sharing quality time with friends, laughing at all the strange things you see, stopping at cool (or not so cool) rest stops and enjoying your journey and destination together! Great memories, fun inside jokes and pictures – ah!
7. Happiness is WINNING!
I don’t know about you all, but I like to win…all the time. I once saw a slogan on the back of a high school sports team’s shirts that said “We love winning more than we hate losing.” Maybe it was the other way around, hating losing more than loving winning. Either way, I like to win and I know I’m not alone.
