As the warm and cozy fall season is around the corner, the scenery starts to change. With the scenery changing comes a new fall playlist. Making an entire new playlist is time-consuming but sometimes necessary. It can be challenging to find songs that fit your taste along with the season. The fall season brings a comforting feeling as the leaves change colors and the air gets cooler, so finding music that matches that vibe is important. Here are 10 songs I believe should be included in your fall playlist.

“Nice To Each Other” – Olivia Dean

Olivia Dean is a new artist on the rise. In 2025, when she released “Man I Need,” many people immediately fell in love with her music. “Nice To Each Other” in particular is a good song for fall because of how relaxed the melody is. Her soft vocals create a feeling of color-changing leaves and cozy nights. The song also includes a positive message about being kind, making it a perfect song to start your day off with. Whether you are walking around on campus, driving to work, or just hanging out with friends, this song provides a perfect calm fall feeling.

“The View Between Villages” – Noah Kahan

Truly any Noah Kahan song is perfect for fall, but “The View Between Villages” matches the mood for the season. The acoustic sound is peaceful, and Noah Kahan’s voice has a soft tone to it. The song also focuses on looking back on how things have changed when returning to a familiar place, which connects to the nostalgic feeling fall brings. People can associate this song with going home for fall break and seeing their hometown again for the first time in months.

“Iris” – The Goo Goo Dolls

The song “Iris” brings an emotional touch that fits the fall season perfectly. The soft guitar sound and reflective lyrics make the song peaceful. The lyrics can bring back specific memories for listeners as well. The song also has a little sad touch to it, making it more comforting and relatable. It is a great song to play when alone trying to get things done, giving you a calm background song with meaning.

“Some Protector” – ROLE MODEL

The rhythm of this song is slower and has a soft sound that makes you feel at ease. The simple guitar melody provides a sense of comfort. The lyrics are deeper, focusing on trying to move on and escape the lingering feelings. It is a very reflective song and makes the fall season feel bittersweet or nostalgic. The song also has a lyric that says, “am I thinking ‘bout September,” which adds to the fall connection.

“Sex on Fire” – Kings of Leon

While many people could associate this song with summer, in my opinion it fits better with fall. To me, this song reminds me of going to a high school football game, seeing all the colorful leaves, along with feeling a cool breeze while in the bleachers. It brings a more exciting sense to fall with its guitar-heavy sound. The song feels comforting but also brings energy to a fall playlist.

“Somebody Else” – The 1975

The beat of this song is soft and slow, with a sad feeling to it. The lyrics focus on watching somebody move on with a new person, and most people can understand that feeling. Maybe even relating the song to their “fall canon event” of the year. It makes a perfect song for driving at night with cracked windows to feel the cool air. It could also work as a calm background song when doing homework or cleaning. The feeling of the song feels lonely yet comforting, fitting the transition from long bright summer days to shorter breezy fall days.

“Mountain Sound” – Of Monsters and Men

An upbeat, high instrumental song is always crucial for a fall playlist. The song feels like being in the fresh air during the fall season, and the folk-like style fits the weather outside. The song gives a comforting atmosphere fitting for hanging out with friends. It also brings a carefree feeling and a sense of yearning, remembering previous memories. I especially like to listen to this song at night while talking and laughing with my friends. Though it is not necessarily a song to scream in the car, it still brings high energy to the car ride.

“Float On” – Modest Mouse

“Float On” provides a different vibe than most songs. It has an indie-rock vibe with an upbeat pace. The lyrics are catchy, making it a perfect song to sing with your friend group. Unlike most slow, comforting fall songs, this song brings more energy to the season. The lyrics are relatable, focusing on dealing with unexpected problems but bringing light to that issue. The song provides an encouraging aspect but still has a sense of nostalgia to it.

“cardigan” – Taylor Swift

This song is a classic for fall; the majority of people would associate Taylor Swift’s folklore album with this season. The gentle piano sound fits perfectly for a chilly fall night. It has a reflective feeling that matches the season’s transition. The title of the song also reminds people of fall simply because “cardigan” reminds people of warm sweaters and cooler weather. This song is perfect for when you want to listen to something relaxing, but still emotional.

“Dreams” – Fleetwood Mac

Fleetwood Mac provides a different kind of fall feeling. It has a laid-back vibe with a bittersweet feeling of being with your friends in the cool weather. The sound has some sadness to it, fitting the vibe of fall. The song itself does not scream fall, but after listening to it on a cool September or October night, it only seems right to add it to the playlist. The meaning behind the song fits the atmosphere of fall perfectly.
