Grab your digital cameras and your cutest outfits! Woodburn Hall is the perfect backdrop for winter-themed pictures. Bring your friends to all have their own picture perfect moment and the best part… It’s free!
- Sip a seasonal latte at a local coffee shop
Local favorites like the Grind and Joan + Joe Coffee release holiday drink menus each year. from peppermint mochas to gingerbread latte, these warm drinks make studying for finals a little sweeter.
- Cheer on the Mountaineers at a basketball game
WVU men’s and women’s basketball games in December are a winter staple. Grab some hot chocolate, wear your best gold and blue and join the Hope Coliseum crowd for a night of Mountaineer pride.
- Join a WVU service project or toy drive
Give back to the community through one of the many seasonal service initiatives on campus. A great resource to find service projects is Served! Toy drives, food collections and clothing donations make it easy to spread joy to and beyond WVU.

Bring your friends and family to enjoy some Christmas classic art performances. Performances such as the Nutcracker! - Cheer on the WVU hockey team
Hockey is the perfect cold- weather sport to go watch while you ring in the winter season. Bundle up in your warmest WVU gear and bring your blankets! The upcoming games are Dec. 5-6 at the Hope Gas Pavilion at Mylan Park.
- Play in the snow!
Even though snow isn’t the best for walking to classes, make the most of it by having some snow fun! Gather your friends, roll some snow and make a snowman for everyone to see!
- Have a game night with your friends
Let’s face it, sometimes it’s too cold to go out and do fun things in the evenings. What’s a good alternative? Having a game night in your comfiest pajamas! Bring your favorite board games and snacks to stay inside and out of the cold.

Sometimes it’s hard to stay motivated when it’s just too cold outside. A good way to stay motivated is to try a winter-themed workout at the Student Rec Center. From pilates to rock climbing, there is something for everyone!
