The Drama is a 2026 film starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson. The film follows a couple as they share their “darkest secret” with their friends while tasting wine for their upcoming wedding. The secret shared by Zendaya’s character, Emma, is very dark and sends the group into a spiral. While the others do have secrets similar to hers, everyone seems to attack her due to the higher severity of hers. The plot twist in this moment is intense and creates a massive transformation for all the relationships in the movie.
As Charlie, played by Robert Pattinson, comes to terms with what his future wife has shared, he goes down a dark hole. He even cheats on her with his coworker; this guilt drives him into begging everyone to forgive Emma. Once they get through the very emotional few weeks, the wedding is filled with more tension and awkwardness. The wedding eventually ends in violence and heartbreak before Emma and Charlie decide to start over.
The intense plot and constant twists and turns create such an engaging film. During my watch, I genuinely couldn’t tell what was going to happen next. It keeps you on your toes. It was very refreshing to sit down and know nothing coming into the theatre. The cast is stacked, acting is incredible, the plot is 10/10 and it’s an original story. During a time of sequels and reboots, original content and stories are hard to come by. I think this is such an incredible watch that explores so much within itself. The heavy themes mixed with a bit of sarcastic comedy create an enjoyable yet heart-racing experience. A24 truly outdid themselves with this film.
