The Ultimate Guide To What You Should Be Wearing In Morgantown This Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

We’ve finally reached November. The leaves have changed colors and started to fall, all things pumpkin flavored are still in season (I’m looking at you, Pumpkin Spice Lattes), Thanksgiving festivities are being planned, and some people have already started listening to their Christmas playlists. Now I don’t know about you, but with the thoughts of the upcoming winter in the back of my mind, my wardrobe has become nothing but leggings and sweatshirts. And what better way to remind everyone that we’re still in the middle of autumn than showing some of the top fashion trends here at WVU.

Flared Pants

Although these are highly in style right now, many people have trouble finding ways to wear them. The trick is to buy high-waisted flares and pair them with a crop top or tuck your shirt in, you’ll be flaunting your legs in no time!

Blanket Scarves

These fashionable scarves are not only adorable, but they can be styled in many different ways. You can turn it into an infinity scarf, style it like a bandana, have it positioned as a shawl, or do the classic wrap-around scarf.

Flared Skirts

Take a look around campus and you’re bound to see at least one girl wearing a flared skirt. These are great for this time of the year. Pair it with whatever shirt you want, boots, and a scarf and you have a super cute outfit for the day.

Patterned Tights

It’s official, patterned tights are back in style. Lace, fishnet, embellished, or any other design can look adorable paired with a cute skirt or dress. These can help give you a fun, bold look that can easily grab the eye of people around you.

Denim jackets

It looks like we’ve going back in time because denim jackets are huge this year. Paired with a skirt or leggings, these look cute with a light colored shirt underneath. A lot of people tend to add a collared shirt and bold jewelry along with this look.

Leg Warmers and Boots

This adorable look is not only comfortable, but extremely stylish. Throw on your favorite pair of boots and accompany it with tan or white leg warmers that are scrunched up and peek out of your shoes.

Plaid Shirts

This classic look is well known, and always comes back during the fall. Stock up on your plaid shirts and find different ways to style them. Tie a knot at the bottom front, accompany it with a large necklace, leave it open with a t-shirt underneath, tie it around your waist, there’s so many different options!

Knitted Scarves

If you don’t have one yet, it’s time to call grandma. Knitted scarves can look cute with any outfit and give off a chic, feminine look. Not to mention, they’ll keep you warm throughout the day.

L.L. Bean boots

These boots aren’t just for walking, they complete your outfit. Tuck your leggings or jeans into your L.L. Bean boots and you have a classic, fall look. Not to mention, these shoes are great for walking up all of the hills here at WVU.

A junior at West Virginia University, Erin is majoring in Journalism (emphasis on Print) and working to achieve a minor in Creative Writing. Erin is currently the president of the Alpha Pi chapter of the national service sorority, Omega Phi Alpha, and is a member of the Alpha Pledge class. She plans to pursue a career in journalism and focus on arts & entertainment.
I grew up in Charleston, West Virginia. Growing up here I knew there was a possibility of going to West Virginia University my entire life. Although I decided to start my college career at the University of Kentucky, those country roads led me back to WVU in the spring of my sophomore year. This was also the point when I decided to establish myself as a Broadcast Journalist student. Since this point I have strived to become the best possible journalist I can be. I am currently working as a weekend reporter for WDTV-Channel 5 in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Prior to receiving this position, I worked as an intern with WCHS-tv/FOX11, in the summer of 2014, where I learned critical editing, interviewing, writing, and speaking skills. I worked closely with anchors, reporters, editors, directors, producers, and even the web team. Aside from the television industry, I am the Campus Correspondent for the West Virginia University Chapter of the online entertainment magazine, Her Campus. Another position I currently hold is the Social Media Chair of WVU’s Radio Television Digital News Association Chapter. In the Fall of 2012, I became a sister of the Alpha Phi Fraternity, in which I held the position of ‘Big Sister Chairman.’ My other passions include horse back riding, scuba diving, being outdoors, and running. I am very adventurous and I try to stay well rounded. My goal in life is to live life to the fullest and be the best possible version of myself. My ultimate goal would be to earn a spot as a reporter/anchor for Fox News, New York. I plan to graduate in December of 2016 and look forward to my future.
