It’s that time of the year again…Spring Cleaning Time! It’s not just about cleaning, it’s about decluttering. The indoor air can have more polluted than outdoor air, cleaning it after a long winter can be beneficial. Having the patience to declutter can be difficult, especially those who tend to let things pile up.  This simple guide to help with spring cleaning.

First: Make a list. Know what is most important for you to clean. See what you haven’t cleaned since last year. It will help keep you on track for what needs done.

Second: Change out your wardrobe. Once the weather has warmed up enough to change out your sweaters for shirts, clean out and store your winter clothing to make room for your spring clothes. If you are up for the challenge, separate your clothing in piles of what you wore a lot this winter and what you barely wore. Then with the pile that you barely wore, go through it and get rid of the clothing you don’t see yourself wearing. Donate, swap or sell those items.

Third: Clean one room at a time. It can take a lot time cleaning your whole apartment, house or room. Unless you are great at cleaning everything at once, this will make everything go at a reasonable pace and it’s far more manageable. Taking on one of the smaller projects first and build your way up this way it will be a ease into cleaning and decluttering.

Fourth: Don’t be afraid to move things around. You will be getting into the hidden areas where dust can hide. You might even find a new way to situate your furniture.

Fifth: Don’t forget about the small places. Your desk, closet, drawers and cabinets. These are places that you tend to “stash” things. These just might your problems areas when it comes to cleanliness. Find a way get rid of things that you don’t need and organize that area.

Following these simple steps will allow for a good spring cleaning.
