Fashion writers are the bridge between those in the fashion industry and everyone else. This season, they’re responsible for detailing runway and award show looks for those who aren’t there to see it themselves. If you’re interested in fashion writing yet don’t know where to begin, here are a few simple platforms you can write for to enter the industry.
1. college fashionista
This brand is very special to me. I’ve been writing for college fashionista for two semesters now and have learned so much about lifestyle writing. CF publishes content from college students all over the nation on topics of beauty, fashion, technology, and lifestyle. If you want to enter the fashion industry, this publication is the best place to start.
2. College Fashion
College Fashion is another great publication and publishes similar content to college fashionista. Through College Fashion’s Looks On Campus section, writesr can find trendy students at their school and pick apart their outfits to discuss what’s currently in style.
3. Her Campus
Of course, Her Campus is one of the best platforms to write for. Check out your university’s chapter and if it doesn’t have one, start one! Being apart of Her Campus WVU has grown my network and given me amazing friends who I now consider to be family. I’ve loved every second of being in the organization and you will too. You can write about literally anything you want and are almost guaranteed to have an audience because Her Campus is a nationally known organization that does amazing things, such as hosting a fashion show and conference every year.
4. Start your own blog
The best and easiest way to practice fashion writing would be through your own blog. There you can see what works, what people like to read and can grow your experience. Employers in the industry also love it when people have their own blog and update regularly.
