Must Have Decorations for the Perfect Halloween Party

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

It’s that time of year again! Time to start planning and gathering items for your perfect Halloween and costume party. If this is your first time throwing a party, you may be a little fuzzy on what you need for your space to be spookified. If it’s not your first party, need a little inspo, this list will surely help you as well!

1. Decorative skulls

Michael’s, Walmart and Target all have decorative skulls of different sizes. If you have time, you can customize your skulls with paint, glitter or gems to give them a personal touch. Place them all around your place: on desks, the kitchen counter, the bathroom, near the music speakers, etc.

2. Hanging props

Hit the party store and find some hanging witches, ghosts and vampires to hang from the ceiling or on the wall. You can opt for a 4-foot hanging ghoul or 16 inch skeleton. Whichever is the most comfortable for you and your party space.

3. Huge Spider Webs

One of the most common decorations is the huge cottony spider webs. Place them on the walls, on the floor, on and around tables and sprinkle some fake spiders on them. These can range from small to large.

4. Fake blood and organs

Grab some mason jars, fill them with fake blood and place them all round your party space labeled “Blood.” Feel free to find some other fake organs and put them in a jar for a “Mad Scientist” effect. This will surely give your guests a fright.

5. Strobe lights

Get flashy when you turn the lights out and add an LED strobe light. This will add to the creepy but fun atmosphere with flashing neon lights. Just turn on the light, add the music and you’ve got a mini rave!

6. Fog machine

If you feel like going all out and creating an unforgettable party, invest in a fog machine. These can be used for any party, but they really add to the eerie feeling of a Halloween party. You can find a fog machine at Walmart or the Party store.
