Meet Board of Governors Candidate, Allison Rollins!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

Allison Rollins, a junior from Point Pleasant, WV, is running for re-election for Board of Governors. We wanted to give you an inside look on what she did during her first year on BOG and why she plans to run for re-election!

Name: Allison Rollins

Age: 20

Major: Chemistry/Television Journalism

Hometown: Point Pleasant, WV

What is your platform?: Club Sports

What has been your biggest accomplishment as governor?: My biggest accomplishment through SGA has been the progress made with club to sports. I was able to update the club sports handbook and create a document that complied practices time, locations, and contact information for all club sports. These documents are both easy to update, easy to view, and easy to use and can be utilized in the future. The purpose of my platform was also to keep in contact with club sports and serve as a liaison between them and SGA. To be able to complete this and see the plans for the club sports facilities unveiled, is something that I will always see as an accomplishment and be proud of.

Why are you running for re-election?: I want to see club sports continue to move in a positive direction at WVU and I think it’s important to have that representation on the Board of Governors. As my work throughout this past year has show, I will fight for club sports and get tasks accomplished and I will continue to do so if re-elected. Also, I feel that as a part of Student Government I can help other students have a voice, get involved, and find out about cool opportunities on campus.

What do you hope to accomplish if re-elected?: If re-elected, I hope to continue to working on club sports issues. With the University providing funding for $8 million dollar club sports facilities, it’s a great opportunity for other students to get involved. It’s time for a publicity and advocacy campaign to get more students involved and cheering on our club sports teams, because they work hard and are great representatives of our student body.
