I Traveled 2,000 Miles To Her Conference LA and Here’s How it Went

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

Just another afternoon studying at Starbucks with a friend turned into us spontaneously booking a mini trip to Los Angeles, CA to experience Her Conference. They say spontaneous trips are always the best trips, and this one definitely lived up to that.

Being someone that has never been to California, I had no idea what to expect. This was a totally different experience than anywhere I’ve been to before — and I’ve been to a LOT of places. When we got to the venue there was so much to explore and PLENTY of insta-worthy photo ops. I had the opportunity to meet and socialize with so many inspiring and powerful women that contribute to companies like Honest Beauty, Apple, Tinder and those from Her Campus headquarters.

Each panel and keynote was packed full of advice for landing your dream internship, nailing an interview, and we even got the inside scoop about what a day-in-the-life is like for the panelists working media jobs.

Between speakers, we ventured out to the patio which had a T-shirt making station, a Mary Kay glam station and of course– a photo wall (complete with a ring light for A1 quality pics). There was a rooftop area featuring comfy couches, inspirational HC posters and a ‘Goal Digger’ binder building station to enjoy under the sun.

Needless to say, I left Her Conference not only excited AF that I got to see Bethany Mota in person, but also with a completely new mindset full of ideas. The amazing women at the event gave me a newfound burst of inspiration to be great at anything I put my mind to.

The greatest points of advice I took away from this experience are to be completely yourself, to keep trying even after a thousand no’s, and to never be afraid to try something outside of your comfort zone. Pursue that dream with all you have to offer.
