HOW TO FEEL MOTIVATED IN COLLEGE

Sometimes one of the hardest things in college is feeling motivated. You realize the freedom you have, and you end up not going to class or not cleaning your room because you don’t have someone constantly on you to tell you what to do. It is easy to fall into the bad habit of having too much fun without doing what you are at college to do, which is go to class and get a degree. Now I am not saying don’t have fun because you 1,000 percent should go out and have fun, but you are paying to go to school, and it is easy to lose sight of that. There should be a healthy balance between your social life and your academic career.

How To Motivate Yourself To Do Work

So now you may be wondering what can I do to make myself motivated? One of the best ways is to set goals. For example, at the beginning of the week, look at your class schedule or syllabus and see what you have coming up. Then, from there, plan out when and on what days you are going to do your homework and study for each class. Another good way is going somewhere like a coffee shop or a bench outside with the intention of doing homework. For some people like myself, doing homework in a dorm where you sleep, have friends over, eat and pretty much everything else makes it hard to find the motivation to get out of bed and do homework. When you go somewhere where you don’t associate relaxing, it is easier to get work done. One of the last ways is doing homework in groups. If you and a couple of friends in your class know you have a lot of work coming up, set a day when you all can go and get coffee and get work done. When others around you are doing work, it motivates you to do the same. Sometimes you need people’s help to motivate you.

How To Find The Motivation To Go To Class

Now I know it is hard to wake up and get out of bed to go to class. It is never easy if you have an 8 a.m, but everyone experiences it. It might be hard getting up to go to class, but it is worse not waking up and missing important content just for an extra hour of sleep. One of the best ways to get yourself to go to class is rewarding yourself after. Say you go to all your Monday, Wednesday, Friday classes for the week. After your last class on Friday, get something you really enjoy, whether it’s a coffee, an ice cream, or a new makeup product; it doesn’t matter. If you set that goal yourself, then you will feel more motivated to go to class. It doesn’t matter what goal it is; it can be big or small. As long as it is something you look forward to. Another great way is to make friends in all your classes. If you have people you enjoy being around, then you are again using others to get the motivation you need. You can motivate each other. Now I am not saying don’t ever miss class because we have all been there. There will be times when you miss class, and that is okay. What isn’t okay is not showing up to class in two weeks.

How To Get Motivated To Clean

So I am sure we all at some point grew up with our parents doing our laundry, cooking for us, doing the dishes, or reminding us to clean our room. It is a hard adjustment when you go to college, and you don’t have those things. You can easily fall into slumps where you don’t want to do things. Some of the best ways to break those habits. Have a set day as your reset day. For me, it is always Sunday. I will vacuum, do dishes, do laundry, put things away, etc. Any cleaning you need done, set for every Sunday or any day that works best for you. When you get into the habit of doing those things, it becomes easier over time. Now, yes, we are college students, and things do get messy, but most likely you have roommates. No one wants to live with someone who doesn’t clean up after themselves. So remind yourself from time to time that you need to be clean for others too.

In the end, everyone feels unmotivated, and that is normal. Getting into routines makes that so much easier. It might take trial and error, but in the end it will become very rewarding.
