Harlem Globetrotters Come to Morgantown with a Female Teammate

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

The West Virginia University Coliseum welcomes the Harlem Globetrotters Tuesday, March 27 at 7:00 p.m.

This year’s team features an exciting new member, “TNT” – their first female player in a generation! She will be rocking the court, representing all of the ladies in the audience.

“I am very happy to hear that a nationally known basketball team has a female member,”
said Alyssa Hager, WVU senior biology major. “As a fellow basketball player myself, I am looking forward to see how TNT keeps up with the boys.”

TNT Maddox, jersey #18, is from Colorado Springs, Colorado and graduated from Temple University in 2007. She is the first female to join the team since 1993’s Hall of Famer Lynette Woodard.

According to harlemglobetrotters.com, TNT is the ninth woman to have ever worn the red, white and blue Harlem Globetrotters jersey.

In honor of Women’s History Month, an 18% discounted TNT Maddox Jersey is offered at the Harlem Globetrotters Fan Store. The offer is only valid for the month of March.

Hager shares anticipated excitement about seeing the show, and plans to represent ‘girl power’ in a #18 jersey. She said she would not miss it for the world, especially because the team is welcomed by Morgantown.

Tickets are on sale now: from $18 to $102, depending on desired location. Purchases can be made at the Mountainlair Box Office, Creative Arts Center Box Office, Ticketmaster Outlets, or by calling 304.293.SHOW (7469). Discounts are also available for group discounts.

With more than 85 years 20,000 games, the team is considered a recognizable sports franchise. The world famous basketball stars guarantee Morgantown a night of ridiculous skills and mind-blowing tricks!
