A Guide To The Perfect Road Trip For You And Your BFFs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

With summer just around the corner, it’s time to start planning that special road trip for you and your pals. From the east to the west coast, here are all of the places we think you and your friends should drive to.

Savannah, Georgia

Savannah is one of the most photogenic cities in the United States, packed with history and places to explore. When you’re there make sure to check out River Street for some of the best food the South has to offer, Leopold’s Ice Cream for dessert and when it gets dark you can take one of the city’s many ghost tours.

Charleston, South Carolina

Just a minute’s drive from the ocean, this is the perfect day trip for you and your guys/gals. Whether it’s taking a horse and carriage sightseeing tour or soaking up the sun on the Isle of Palms, the possibilities in Charleston are endless.

Asheville, North Carolina

This little hippie town is the perfect place for you and your friends to catch some good vibes. If you’re needing some fresh mountain air and some art appreciation, this is the place for you. Listen to live music on every street corner or take a tour of the famous Biltmore, there are plenty of options.

Nashville, Tennessee

While this is the perfect city for all of my country-lovin’ kings and queens, there’s more to do here than just music related pastimes. Of course, I definitely recommend visiting the Grand Ole Opry, but there’s also the Parthenon and hanging at the Pinewood Social.

Austin, Texas

You know what they say, everything is bigger in Texas, especially the adventures. Whether you want to spend a day or a week in Austin, you won’t run out of activities to do or places to see. Take a river tubing trip, try Live Love Paddle on Lady Bird Lake, or go cave exploring with your besties.

Las Vegas, Nevada

There are plenty of things to do in Las Vegas that aren’t mainstream or stereotypical. Check out the Seven Magic Mountains for some abstract inspiration or the Red Rock Canyon to get in touch with your inner nature nymph.

San Francisco, California

One of my favorite west coast cities, San Francisco is lively all year round with its nearly perfect weather. There are plenty of ventures that aren’t cliché when visiting California. For some pretty sights check out the Mosaic Steps on 16th Avenue, the Wave Organ at the Golden Gate Yacht Club, and Pug Sunday for your monthly dose of cute pups.
