As the year winds down there’s plenty on students minds: winter break, the holidays, and
of course finals weeks. It may seem a little scary having five or six exams crammed into one
week, but there are ways to beat the finals frenzy.

The WVU libraries have plenty to offer when it comes to finals week. One resource is a
study room. Study rooms hold four to eighteen people. It is a great way to study when you are
with classmates because it gives you the ability to share notes and talk in a private setting. It is
also nice because you can take a little break and just chat with friends when it is needed. New to
the study rooms this year is the reservation policy. In order to reserve a room you can sign up for
a time slot in the library’s website. The library tends to get pretty crowded during the week so
make sure to reserve is advance.

During finals week the libraries will open at 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 and remain open until
10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14. They will be open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15.
Another way to decrease the stress of finals week is to plan ahead. Start making a
schedule of what projects you need to complete, what exams you have to take, and how much
time needs to be put into each class. Usually when laid out on paper it can be less stressful then
trying to remember everything on your own. Also, begin making study guides and flash cards
now. That way during the week of you can focus on studying, rather than make a guide for every
class then have to study them as well.

It’s typical to become a zombie that lives on coffee during finals week, but it’s more
beneficial to time manage and think about your health. Make sure you are eating healthy foods
and drinking plenty of water so you don’t have to worry about getting sick during finals weeks.
Also make sure to get eight hours plus if possible of sleep so you can be fully charged. But if the
coffee pick up is needed, head to Eliza’s on the 4th floor of the library.

Good luck on your finals eers!
