Let’s talk coffee shops! Now that I am officially a senior here at WVU (omg), I believe I am qualified to share my favorite coffee shops to study in Morgantown. Whenever I need to get out of my house during midterms or finals week, I always find myself coming back to one of these shops.Â
I am going to start with my personal favorite, AntiquiTea House on University Ave. I started coming here my sophomore year, and haven’t strayed since. It is a smaller, lesser-known coffee shop with the nicest workers you will ever meet here in Morgantown. Normally, when I am trying to save a buck, so like always, I come here. It is just small enough to not feel completely overwhelmed by people, but also have my own space. I am obsessed with their coffee, and even their decaf is amazing.Â
Another option would be a classic for us students, The Grind. It is right on the downtown campus and only a short walk from the WVU library. I also really enjoy their coffee, and it is such a unique coffee shop. It connects to the WVU gift shop right beside it, so after you grab your coffee, you can walk around the store. The coffee is fairly priced too. There are a few tables to study at, and a couple of seats against the window looking out towards downtown. Whether you need a quick coffee stop or a vibey place to study, you should check out The Grind and see if it could be your new study spot.Â
Next up is Stone Tower Brews, which I think might be every student’s favorite place to study during the busy school season. Almost every time I come to Stone Tower, my friends and I always struggle to find a seat, but that’s great business for them, so I can’t be mad. I will say I do really enjoy their coffee, but they are definitely on the pricey end, so here is your warning. On a less busy day, you would be able to notice that there really are a lot of options for places to study within the shop. This would be a good option if you just have some homework- maybe not a serious amount of studying to do; it can be quite distracting once it is busy. They also have some great food, so that is a bonus.Â
Blue Moose Coffee House is another classic and right in the heart of downtown. There are multiple places to pick from to study within the shop, and this place is filled with many Morgantown locals, not just students. The Morgantown library is just down the street, and cute shops are on each corner. Depending on which seat you pick to study, you can watch downtown Morgantown’s streets fill with the locals (aka the perfect place to people-watch). I encourage you to explore these spots and see which one could be your new favorite study spot! Each coffee shop has a unique vibe and setting- every opportunity to find one you love on your very own campus.
