6 Things to Do If You Aren’t Going Anywhere for Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

Spring break is almost upon us and although there is probably a lot of us going on vacation there is also an equal share that is staying at home. Let’s be honest, none of us chose to stay at home for spring break but it doesn’t have to be boring! Here are some things you can do to keep busy over break!

1. Try some new recipes!

Buzzfeed’s cooking website “Tasty” is a great place to find crazy recipes that our cheap and easy.

2. Go thrift store shopping!

I am convinced that Macklemore has the world figured out. Being in High School when “Thrift shop” came out, I wouldn’t be caught dead searching through a Goodwill. But There are youtube accounts and instagram pages that turn thrift shop finds into super cute clothes ! A great project to keep yourself busy and pass some time.

3. Catch up on sleep

I hate to break it to everyone but going to sleep at 3am and waking up at noon is not a normal sleep cycle. It might sound dumb but use your time off of school to catch up on some sleep!

4. Explore your city/town

If you have nothing else to do during the day try to go into a shop/cafe/restaurant you have never been to i your town before.

5. Exercise

It may suck but it sure does pass the time. Plus all your friends that went to Cabo will be full of Margaritas and Tacos and you will be stuntin’ your abs.

6. Literature, Music and Cinema

Pick a good book to read or even watch some new movies you would normally never read/watch. Also discovering new music is a great way to spend some time.

I am originally from Westchester, New York. I came to WVU for my undergrad in Strategic Communications with an emphasis on Public Relations and a minor in Sports Communication. My involvment on campus includes blogging for Her Campus, a sister of Alpha Phi, the assistant director of the media team on the Mountaineer Maniacs executive board and lastly, an athletic communications intern with the WVU Athletic Communications office. I will be graduating in May of 2017 and I am looking forward to getting started with my future career in Journalism and Public Relations!
