Whimsy Wednesday: Tutu Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WPUNJ chapter.

They’ve popped up all over your Tumblr Dash, your bloggers posts, and on the runways. Tulle Skirts are in this season and not for fairy princess dress up games (but that’s totally cool, too!)  A tulle skirt is an awesome statement piece that can be rocked in so many ways and add just the right touch of fantasy and whim to any outfit.

Ballerina In Disguise

The pink tutu: By making the skirt midi-length, it adds a more mature feel to the material and silhouette. The high neckline in the crop top is a sweet nod to the trend that has been riding out the past few seasons. Adding pale pink bandaged flats plays up the the skirt but still has a toned down vibe reminiscent of Angelina Ballerina.

Demure Dreams

This little ensemble reflects the “Ms. Audrey Hepburn” or “Holly Golightly” days. The silhouette is definitely more elegant with a bit of Parisian chic. The hat adds just the right touch, too; we could imagine someone walking this look down Fifth Avenue or Rue de Passy!

Street Style

This is a cool, effortless way to wear the tulle skirt for those of you who like a more natural feel to your outfits. Adding a simple loose tank that can be tucked in and a scarf keeps the look super casual.

Tulle skirts are a statement piece that every girl should try out! They’re meant to be FUN, not scary, so experiment and find what suits you! Add a plaid flannel for a country-chic look or a chambray shirt and a statement necklace for an urban feel. The possibilities are limitless — just like you, collegiettes!
