The D23 Expo took place September 9th-11th in Anaheim, California with Disney having some exciting announcements in store for its fans. These are three upcoming shows and movies that I am excited to watch:
Big Shot
Big Shot was renewed for a second season last year and at the D23 Expo, Disney announced that the second season will premiere on October 12th on Disney+. They also released the season two trailer. Big Shot is a series about the Westbrook Sirens, a girls high school basketball team who have just gotten a new basketball coach, Marvyn Corn (played by John Stamos). Throughout the series, the girls have to learn how to play as a team to achieve their goal of getting to Division 2, while dealing with family, friends, and relationship drama. Big Shot is one of my favorite shows, so I can’t wait for the second season to premiere. As someone who has always been a fan of sports, I was immediately drawn to it. Watch the trailer below!
Descendants 4
When Descendants 3 premiered in 2019, I thought that was going to be the end of the Descendants trilogy. But, when Disney announced Descendants 4 at the Expo, I was excited. Instead of following Mal and her friends, Descendants 4 introduces two new characters; Red, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts being played by Kylie Cantrall, and Chloe, the daughter of Cinderella and Prince Charming being played by Dara Renee. China Anne McClain is also set to return to her role as Uma. Descendants 4 will not be out for awhile, though, as filming is set to begin in 2023.
Inside Out 2
It’s been seven years, but Inside Out is getting a sequel! Inside Out 2 was announced at the Expo, with Summer 2024 as its release date. The first movie followed the emotions inside Riley’s head as she moved from Minnesota to San Francisco. The long-awaited sequel will once again take place inside Riley’s head, but it will be coming from a teenager point-of-view.
