Fall is one of my favorite seasons of the year. Shortly after the scorching hot summer season passes, we have the season of cozy sweaters, leaves falling and more. While this season brings lots of comfort and joy to many, it is also a very “trendy” season.

I’ve noticed a pattern of trends each Fall season, so here are some of my favorite and not so favorite Fall trends:

Pumpkin Spice is Everywhere

When the summer starts to transition into Fall, Starbucks, Dunkin and local coffee shops are suddenly flooded with customers. Pumpkin Spice is the hot flavor of the Fall season, but for me it’s really nothing special. From Starbucks in particular, I really enjoy the Pumpkin cold foam.

However, when it comes to Pumpkin Spice lattes, I do not understand the hype. For me, the pumpkin flavor is so overpowering towards the coffee and the added “spice” factor is the worst part. As a former local coffee shop barista, the “spice” typically contains a mixture of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves which creates an extremely overpowering mixture of flavors.

As the years go on, Fall drinks are just a cash cow for franchises like Starbucks and Dunkin. I am noticing that having a dislike for Pumpkin Spice lattes is not an unpopular opinion anymore, and yet the Fall flavors get released earlier each year. This year, Starbucks released their Fall drink menu on August 30,the earliest release date by far.

Pumpkin spice is not just flooded on coffee shop menus, it is quite literally everywhere. Pumpkin spice scented candles are everywhere, and although they usually smell good, it seems it is the only Fall themed scent I see the most.

Uggs

Another trend I have noticed recently made a comeback was Ugg boots/slippers. I am totally hot and cold when it comes to wearing Ugg boots. Growing up, I wore Ugg boots for many years. Suddenly, when I reached a certain age I realized they weren’t really “in” anymore. As they begin to make a comeback, I cannot decide how I feel about it. My style has changed immensely in the last few years, so it’s hard for me to decide if dropping a pretty penny on Ugg boots is worth it.

Sweater Weather

One of the reasons I love Fall is because it’s “sweater weather”. As soon as the breezy weather begins, I am most excited to whip out my hoodies, crewnecks and cozy knit sweaters. In the Fall and Winter I feel like I can show my true authentic style. During summer I find myself limited to throwing on a T-shirt and shorts just to have a comfortable, breathable outfit. I love when the weather starts getting cold because it’s the perfect season for layering and styling cozy oversized sweaters and jackets.
