The Date Outfit Inspiration You Need This Cuffing Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WPUNJ chapter.

Do you feel it in the air? Cuffing season is upon us and we must be prepared for the first dates that lie ahead. Now let’s be real, guys won’t realize if you’re wearing this season’s hottest trend but they definitely notice if you put some effort into your look. And who doesn’t like to get all dolled up for a date?! Here is some outfit inspiration you can fall in love with this cuffing season!

Denim on Denim Casual

Go with different washes of denim on top and bottom so you’re not looking like the lost member of *NSYNC circa 1999. To embrace the autumn feel, add brown accents like she does here or you can have fun and play with color.

Boyfriend Jeans and a Leather Jacket

Add some feminine accents to this edgy look by wearing heels and delicate jewelry. How about a vampy lip and dark sunnies too for a mysterious vibe?

Sweater and Skater Skirt

Get flirty with a skater skirt and add a sweater up top and tights on the bottom to keep warm. Wear heels the same color as your tights to create the illusion of longer legs or go with booties for a more casual look.

Oversized Sweater and Leggings

This look can be tricky because if you don’t do it right, you’re just going to look like you rolled out of bed. Let us examine this ensemble:

The sweater is oversized but not so oversized that it looks like her ex-boyfriend’s that she refuses to throw out. She incorporates some layering with her leg warmers, white undershirt, and scarf which shows that there was some thought put into this. Finally, I love love love how she uses red as a pop of color. She even added a red lip which is flattering on everyone. This is a great example of taking what could have been a frumpy outfit and turning it into something really cute. It’s comfy casual at its best.

Peacoat and a Cocktail Dress

Wear a dress that isn’t too much longer or shorter than your peacoat to keep the proportions right when sporting this classy look. Create a flattering silhouette by going with a coat that is cinched at the waist or has a belt. This look is great for those dates that end with strolling around the chilly city!

If all else fails, pull out the midi skirt!

I am currently obsessed with Eva Mendes’ Fall Collection at New York and Company. She incorporated beautiful fall colors and lovely midi skirts. They are so versatile and a great choice for all kinds of dates. They also flatter the body in a great way so it’s like showing off what you got without showing much at all. Perfect!

Have fun on your dates and remember, don’t bring up your exes!
