4 Black Fashion Designers We Do Not Hear About

When you think of fashion you think of names like Calvin Klien, Ralph Lauren, Coco Chanel, etc. You rarely hear about black designers. Just because they are not noticed does not mean they are not there. These are four black fashion designers you probably never heard about.

Carly Cushnie

 

She is the co-founder and designer of the coveted women’s brand, “Cushnie et Ochs.” She learned by working in fashion houses for designers like Donna Karan, Oscar De La Renta, and Proenza Schouler.

B.Michael:

 

He is the founder of “B. Michael America” in 1999. Over the years, he has had clientele that include huge names such as Beyoncé, Serena and Venus Williams, Halle Berry and Cate Blanchett.

Tracy Reese:

She has dressed Mrs. former FLOTUS herself, Michelle Obama!! Need I say more.

 

Ann Lowe:

She was the first African American to become a noted fashion designer. Her designs became popular around the 1920’s to 1960’s. She even designed the wedding dress for Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy.
