CAB Spring Concert Revealed

With the excitement of the spring concert at hand, the Campus Activities Board or (CAB), a student run organization responsible for finding and bringing quality entertainment to WMU, has just announced that Neon Trees, with Karmin and special guest twenty|one|pilots!, will be performing at Miller Auditorium April 9th at 8pm.  

Neon Tree is an American alternative rock band from Provo, Utah who are known for their hits “Everybody Talks”, “Animal”, and “1983”. They performed “Everybody Talks,” on the America’s Got Talent live results show as well as NBC’s coverage of the 2012 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.  They have toured with The Killers and 30 Seconds to Mars, as well as Paper Tongues, MeTalkPretty, and Civil Twilight.

Karmin is an American pop duo consisting of Amy Heidemann and Nick Louis Noonan. They are best known for their song “Brokenhearted,” which reached the top 20 in the United States, and the top 10 in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, As well as the song “Hello,” which reached number 1 on the Billboard Dance Chart in the US. They were known previously for their covers, including Chris Brown’s “Look at Me Now” and Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass.” Their original song “Take It Away” was used in promos for the 2011 NBA Finals. They also won the American Music Awards and MTV O Music Award in 2011.

Twenty One Pilots – Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun – have earned widespread acclaim for their energetic live sets and distinctive fusion of piano-driven schizoid pop and lyrical uplift. They have built a national following via their innumerable headline shows and tours. The band made its Fueled By Ramen debut with a new EP titled “Three Songs” released Summer 2012. Their influences include Cobra Starship, Fun, Gym Class Heroes, Panic! At The Disco, Paramore, and A Rocket To The Moon.

This concert will be one of the biggest to come to Western Michigan University this year.  Tickets are on sale now for WMU students and are only $10-$12 dollars with a WMU student I.D. or $15-$20 with any other student I.D.  Tickets go on sale to the public February 11th for $20-$25.

 

Katie King is a senior at Western Michigan University majoring in journalism and minoring in anthropology and gender and women's studies. This will be her second year writing for HerCampus and before that she wrote for the Western Herald. She also wrote for L7 women's magazine in the summer of 2012. In her spare time Katie likes to hang out with friends, watch reruns of old shows and talk about why Chicago is better than Michigan. When she graduates she hopes to move to New York with her tabby cat, Ellie and write for a fashion magazine. However, she changes her mind quite often so who knows where she will end up!
