I Finally Saw “Hamilton”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WM chapter.

GUYS! I did the thing yesterday! I saw Hamilton, and it was everything I hoped it’d be.

I had been listening to the cast album on repeat, assuming I’d never get a chance to actually see it, until my mom told me that my grandpa had bought tickets in March for a November show. I was so pleasantly surprised and so grateful, and yesterday the day finally came.

After someone walked by the theatre before the show and yelled “HE DIES,” I found my seat with my aunt, shaking with excitement as we read the playbill and prepared to be amazed. As soon as it started, I knew that all of the hype was valid. Even though I knew practically every line, there is nothing like live theatre. The little dance moves or hand motions or artistic choices that each actor made created an atmosphere unique to that Friday afternoon performance. As someone who has no musical ability, I was truly in awe of the talent that was being displayed before me.

Apparently Zac Efron was there, and he didn’t say hi to me, which is really out of character. But I won’t take it personally.

Afterwards, I got texts from friends and family asking if it was as good as expected, and I could not put into words how incredible it was. Given the current political climate, it definitely was a good time to see the show. The story provided some reminders that when politics is the only thing, it ends badly. I’m so happy that I got to see it, and I really hope everyone can in the future!
