How WM Checked Off My Bucket List Goals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WM chapter.

I never get tired of reiterating that WM is a paradise that fulfills my bucket list. At our alma mater, I have checked off five goals!

1. To Sit on the Stage during a Live Performance

It might sound crazy that I wished to be sitting on the stage as a viewer during a live event, but I really did at a music workshop. While giving a joint lecture, the two professors encouraged the audience to come sit close to each other on the stage. We then collaboratively sang African-style a cappella.

2. To Write Online and Weekly

Devoted to writing, I looked forward to writing weekly on an online platform one day. Here came Her Campus WM! I was so excited to join the female-focused writing community that I doubled up my weekly writing production—from one each week to two!

3. To Become an Insider of TEDx

I haven’t watched many TED talks, but each one I watched was truly meaningful. One talk titled “The Danger of a Single Story” was one of the lessons motivating me to major in regional studies and to dedicate to multicultural communications. As I hoped to contribute to the TED community, TEDx WM came into my view. I was charmed and fulfilled to work with a team of volunteers, to be enlightened by the talks, and to grasp how a TED event was organized.

4. To Grow into a Polyglot

Coming from a multilingual family, I was thrilled when exposed to different languages. In the first semester at WM, I commenced studying French. Having had fun with Python and Snap! in high school, I became R’s friend this semester. In the sophomore year, I will advance into the next level of French and become a Japanese beginner, planning to research China’s dialects.

5. To Have a Lab Every Week

I always wanted to have a experiment-focused class. Thus, I have been enrolling in a chemistry course with weekly labs this semester. We designed silk scarves, made engaging purple out of insects, and “enjoyed” the dead pond smell from dyeing shoelaces indigo!

When I want to achieve, WM is always there for me—inspiring and supportive. Create your bucket list and make efforts to check off some objectives at WM (#wmbucketlist)!
