Most freshman dorms are not very spacious. Although you probably don’t have room for a lot more than the necessities, you can still make the space your own by adding in a few key pieces that represent you. I have picked out a few items that I would put in my freshman dorm if I could do it all over again.

First of all, I’m a sucker for anything with a quote on it. I will literally spend hours reading websites or books with inspiration sayings. This wall canvas features one of my favorite quotes. I know; it’s cheesy.

I’m also a huge fan of pictures. Anyone who saw my room last year can attest to the fact that my photographs from my semester abroad were plastered all over my wall. So, this postal frame set and photo strip are the next items on my list. Instead of filling my wall space with pictures that I would just have to take down, these would be easy to transport from year to year.

As for my bedding, I’m not too picky. However, the paisley duvet caught my eye. It wouldn’t show too much dirt, and it is a relatively simple pattern that I wouldn’t grow tired of by the end of the year.

My last pick for dorm accessories would have to be this Pi Beta Phi wastebasket. I’m not too keen on Greek accessories in general, but this piece shows off my letters, without being too overpowering.

The best part about picking out items for your dorm room is the individualization of the process. You are leaving your childhood bedroom behind, and finally getting to choose exactly what YOU want in your room.

This 4th of July, Dormify is offering 20% off bedding with code FIRECRACKER so be sure to take advantage of that!
