Find a movie to watch during Women’s History Month! (and yes, they pass the Bechdel test!)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WM chapter.

Looking for a movie to watch this month? Want a movie that has multiple female characters that don’t serve the purpose of helping the male character’s development? Then look no further, because I have compiled a list of movies based on different moods to watch!

Feeling empowered? – Watch “Set It Off” (1996). It’s about a group of friends who after experiencing financial difficulties, decide to start robbing banks. The movie features Jada Pinkett-Smith and Queen Latifah.

Feeling inspired? – Watch “Hidden Figures” (2016). It’s about three African-American women who work for NASA who were the brains behind the operation that got the first man in space. It features Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monáe.

Feeling happy? – Watch “A League of Their Own” (1992). It’s about the first professional female baseball league. It stars Geena Davis.

Feeling nostalgic? – Watch “Roma” (2018). It’s about the life of a woman who is a maid in Mexico City and the film is shot in black and white. It stars Yalitza Aparicio, Marina de Tavira, and Nancy Garcia.

Feeling compassionate? – Watch “The Joy Luck Club” (1993). It explores the relationship between four pairs of mothers and daughters. The cast was composed of all Asisan women, something uncommon at the time. It stars Ming-Na Wen, Tamlyn Tomita, and Lauren Tom.

Feeling strong? – Watch “Wonder Woman” (2017). It’s based on the comic series, a story about a warrior princess who fights in World War II. It stars Gal Gadot, Robin Wright, and Kristen Wiig.

Feeling amused? – Watch “Clueless” (1995). It’s about Cher and her best friend Dionne, navigating the ups and downs of high school. It stars Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, and Brittany Murphy.
