What are you involved with on campus? Poorna is the President of Oxfam at William and Mary, an organization dedicated to eradicating poverty and creating global change. However, he is most dedicated to his job at SWEM library where he works as a consultant behind the circulation desk. He has worked at SWEM for four years now, and he feels like the faculty there is his second family. Working at SWEM has provided him with valuable skills and he can now successfully navigate libraries such as the Library of Congress.
What is your favorite thing about William and Mary? Campus life! It gave him the opportunity to come out of his shell. Poorna especially enjoyed being a Sharpe Scholar because it provided a sense of community and is where he met his current girlfriend. He absolutely loves the beauty of campus, and he advises not to take it for granted. When is his favorite time to be on campus? When it snows, because W&M is always prettier in the snow.
Would you want to get married in the Wren Chapel? “Yes!” Poorna wants to be “one of those” students who combine William and Mary with all aspects of their life, and he wishes that whomever he walks down the aisle with would share his same sense of admiration for William and Mary as much as he does.
