Finding new music to add to my repertoire is a very difficult and time consuming task. I sift through suggestions on Pandora and Spotify for hours until coming across only a few tunes that interest me. Throughout the last year, I have come across some great new artists. Because March is Women’s History Month, here are my top three young, up-and-coming female artists.

1. Nyah Grace

Nyah Grace is an eighteen year-old singer and musician from Oregon. I have always been a fan of jazz music, but Nyah Grace appeals to the modern teenage tastes with her stunning melodies. In June of 2020, Nyah came out with her Honey-Colored album. The album is perfect for exciting dance moods and relaxing quiet nights. Some of my favorite songs are Sunday, Sooner or Later, My Sista Told Me, and I Don’t Really. Nyah Grace has an extremely mature voice for such a young woman, and she has an amazing talent for creating beautiful melodies. You should definitely follow her Tik Tok for occasional new riffs she creates at random.

2. Laufey Lin

After suddenly stumbling across Laufey Lin’s instagram live, I have been completely obsessed with her music. She is a senior at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. She has a natural talent for jazz, but isn’t afraid to add hints of other more popular genres into her repertoire. I am completely infatuated with her cello and piano abilities. Currently, Laufey only has three released songs (my favorite being Street by Street), but she will be coming out with new EPs very soon. If you need an hour of relaxation, check out her Instagram lives on Sunday nights!

3. Lindsey Lomis

I have been aware of seventeen year-old Lindsey Lomis for a while now. I first came across her amazing voice in a duet of Billie Eilish’s Ocean Eyes with Eddie Benjamin. Lindsey is from Nashville Tennessee and has recently been producing more and more music (my favorite song is Simple Love) with Warner Records. Her covers are extremely creative and she manages to cover a wide variety of genres. Lindsey Lomis is a prime example of someone who is working to achieve her dreams despite her young age.

These three young women manage to pump me up with their fabulous music while inspiring and encouraging me to pursue my passions at the same time. If you ever need a pick me up or some new spice to your old Spotify playlists, check out Nyah Grace, Laufey Lin, and Lindsey Lomis. Happy Women’s History Month!
