When I say that list-making is my crutch, I mean that I make lists for absolutely everything. While my friends say they love my ramblings in bullet form, they don’t realize that without them, I would get nothing done. And since I know how crazy-hectic things get when you first get to William & Mary, I wanted to make a to-do list of things you MUST do in the first few weeks of class.

  1. Take a midnight walk around CW.While it won’t be snowing anytime soon, one of my favorite memories at W&M is running outside with a bunch of friends in the middle of the night when snow had just begun to fall, singing Christmas carols, arm-in-arm down DOG Street; tourists even joined in our songs.
  2. Take nighttime “silhouette photos” at the Muscarelle’s colorful glass windows. (Tip: Wear a dress/skirt you can play with and a pair of hot heels to make your legs look super long!)
  3. Take an early morning or late afternoon run around CW (when it’s cooler).  Take some side streets, and go exploring!  My favorite song to start my runs is “Gitana” by Shakira, because it’s relaxing but has a great beginning pace.  And I mean, who doesn’t want to be as free-spirited as Shakira?
  4. Check out the Cheese Shop.If you have no idea what this is, think magical place of fantastic sandwiches made however you want them. The Cheese Shop is a staple of every W&Mer’s diet (especially if you live close to CW).
  5.  After the Cheese Shop, stroll through the Peanut Shop.   Here you can sample chocolate covered peanuts, peanut brittle, etc. for a little dessert (make sure to go after 5 pm to get 15% off with your W&M student ID!).
  6. Take a stroll out to the Matoaka Amphitheatre at night.   Make sure to bring some friends and blankets. Lay on the stage by the lake for the absolutely perfect view of the stars.
  7. Make a 3 am run to Wawa. While I do not recommend staying up this late frequently, there will inevitably be times when you are up this late.  Head over to Wawa for a late-night snack, and you will find you are not alone.
  8. Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello.  Head over to the west side of Blair Hall and stand in the very center of the circle with the three busts. Face the building, talk, and experience the echo wall!

I hope you’ll enjoy some of my campus favorites. Feel free to add your own to the list!
