Why Her Campus Wisconsin Loves The Bachelor

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

Every Monday we gather around the TV with our closest friends to indulge in one of our favorite guilty pleasures: “The Bachelor”. While everyone may not be a fan of this two-hour reality dating show, or that this season’s Bachelor is Nick Vial, Her Campus Wisconsin cannot get enough. So why do we like watching?

“I love to watch The Bachelor because it is a way for me to take a step back from my life and to live in someone else’s for an hour or so, despite the fact that the lives these contestants live are sort of unconventional and unrealistic. Also, it is fun to watch because it is nothing similar to my life. Plus, who doesn’t love watching drama? I mean come on!”

“I love The Bachelor because it reminds me that my love life could be worse.”

“I love watching The Bachelor because there’s drama, my favorite host (Chris Harrison), and more drama.”

“I love The Bachelor because Mondays are the worst days of the week, but I can look forward to getting together with all of my roomies and forgetting about our own problems for an hour or two.”

“I love The Bachelor because when Tinder fails, at least I have a backup plan.”

“Because I’m reminded that even though my love life is boring, at least I don’t have to live in a house with 20+ women all fighting for the same man.”

“It’s like America’s modern fairytale.”

As crazy as the show can be from time to time, it’s one of the many reasons we love to watch. Thank you ABC for The Bachelor and giving Her Campus Wisconsin a reason to look forward to Mondays.
