When you’re putting together an outfit in the cold Wisconsin weather, it’s so easy to forget the quintessential items: accessories. Sure, a sweater, Ugg boots, Northface jacket and hat will keep you warm, but how does it reflect your style? This winter, remember the extra little touches that can turn an “eh” outfit, to “wow, that girl’s got style!”

Your fingers may be covered in gloves 90 percent of the time, but in class, grab the attention of your classmates by trying some crazy nail designs. In Teen Vogue, editor Jane Keltner de Valle tries out spring fashion patterns on her nails. This look can be done easily when you use nail design pens. Not into crazy patterns? Try the hot colors for this winter. A pop of white color is major for this season, so having it on your nails would make a big statement. Other colors to try are deep purples, matte greys and dark blues.

Try out a new bag for this season to spice up your look. White leather satchels are having a big moment. Another look I love is this orange Cambridge bag from Urban Outfitters. Color blocking was popular in the fall, and you can transform this style into winter by having bright bags that juxtapose the gloomy weather.

Save your Bucky Badger hats for game days and try out some stylish headbands, earmuffs and beanies this winter. Forever 21 offers some very cute andwarm head wraps that change up the typical hat look. The head wraps are great hair accessories to wear throughout the day as well.

One look I see coming back in style are the beloved earmuffs we all dreaded as children. I noticed how functional they actually were: they keep your ears super warm, are pretty cozy and don’t mess up your hair. I’m pulling out my pair from the 90s with cheetah print, but you can find a more modern look at American Apparel. Try out the peacock colored earmuffs from American Apparel – it’s the perfect pop of color!

In the fall, I’m all about wearing my leather-riding boots with high socks. Why does that have to stop once we put our winter boots on? Under your worn-too-often Uggs or other snow boots, add some colorful or printed socks that just peak out of the top of your boots. Try out some floral printed socks to add some life around all the bare trees. Or winterize your look with some crazy argyle printed socks.

Whatever your style is, look for a little extra something to add to your winter look. People will notice, and you will feel happier knowing you look your absolute best from head to toe.
