What the World’s Most Powerful Women Can Teach Us

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

March is Women’s History Month – a whole month dedicated to female empowerment and celebrating the awesome contributions women have made to society. The women Forbes named as The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women of 2014 are making history right now. These are some seriously strong women doing incredible things, and we should look to them as role models.

Not only do these women represent many different ethnicities from countries across the globe, but they’re involved in a variety of fields. Some are entrepreneurs and philanthropists, some are politicians. Others are tech gurus, billionaires, and celebrity icons. Some hail from the fashion industry, some work in real estate, some in healthcare, and still others work in mining and construction.

Among the women on the list, some familiar names include: Hillary Clinton, Queen Elizabeth II, Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, Sofia Vergara, Angelina Jolie, Lady Gaga (at 28, she’s the youngest to make the list!), and Beyoncé. So what do all of these women have in common? Their ambition and dedication has led to their success.

Here’s 5 things we can all learn from these powerful ladies:

1.     Stay determined.

Set a goal for yourself and stay focused. Dedication is the key to success.

2.     Think big.

Make your goals BIG. Take risks! Sometimes you just have to go with your gut.

3.     Be confident and be positive.

You are your biggest supporter – Don’t doubt yourself!

4.     Learn as you go.

Don’t worry about making mistakes – they’re really just opportunities to test yourself and find new ways to do things the way they work best for you.

5.     Be a leader.

Don’t just focus on your own success; collaborate with others.

All in all, doing these things can help you succeed in anything you do!
