I hate cooking and these are my go-to, simple meals.

Since I have gotten an apartment, I have had to cook my own meals. I know how to cook, it’s just a matter of not liking to cook. Unfortunately, I can’t just starve. So, I have been experimenting with foods that are easy and somewhat quick to make which are still good while also being healthy. Cooking doesn’t have to be a chore and it’s important to enjoy what you’re eating, so this is my list of easy, go-to meals to make when I can’t think of anything.

1. Pasta (and its variations)

Pasta is probably the most basic and easiest thing to make. What I’ve learned as well, is that there are so many different types of sauces you can put your pasta in. A fun hack is searching up recipes you like and copying it. For example, I love the Penne Rosa from Noodles and Company. So, I looked up the recipe, and bam: I made an at-home version.

2. Frozen dumplings

This food item has been the best thing to happen to me during my cooking jounrye. The veggie frozen dumplings from Trader Joes are just the best. There are so many different ways to cook them, but my favorite is pan frying them. They are so good. And with soy sauce? Chef’s kiss.

3. Tacos

Tacos seem really complicated, but they are actually the easiest thing to make. Especially when you buy the ingredients already made. Things like salsa, guacamole, etc. are often premade and easy to buy. All you need to do is make the beans and veggies which are both super easy.

4. salads

There are so many types of salads, and finding ones you like is simple. You can try frozen packets, making them yourself and, once again, copying recipes you like. It’s also a healthy option, and you can place salads in different meals, like salads on or with bread.

Obviously these aren’t the only things I make but these are always good to go to when I don’t know what to make. Although it may not seem like it at first, cooking is really something you get used to. Sure, it’s annoying and having to schedule out time in your day to cook can be difficult, but once you get the hang of it, it can be fun.
