Top 10 Brunch Places to Try in Madison

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

It’s safe to say that there seems to be a universal love and appreciation for a nice brunch nowadays. I know for sure I’m always looking for the next greatest Eggs Benedict or the most mouthwatering pancakes at every single brunch place that I go to — and I wouldn’t doubt that you are either! Brunch is such a classic way to celebrate the weekend; when you’re chilling on the weekends, you might as well treat yourself to a nice load of brunch with your friends and family and enjoy the good times. Here’s a list of brunch places to check out in Madison this year!

Cento

Cento is located right by the Overture Center for the Arts, and it’s one heck of a place to get brunch! This is easily the place to get your so called “boujee” brunch! It’s got a great selection of breakfast foods with a slight twist to it. In the times that I’ve gone to Cento, I’ve gotten something different each and every time I go because everything there is worth the try. Their Lemon Ricotta Pancakes are to die for and their avocado toast hits the spot when you’re in the mood for a trendy meal!

Madison Sourdough

Not only is Madison Sourdough classically known for their delicately designed croissants and pastries at coffee shops across Madison, but they have really easy and terribly delicious brunch options available every single day. Located on the ever-so-hipster Willy Street, Madison Sourdough Co. is a cute cafe hidden behind some bushes that provides a great brunch experience for any group of people. Every brunch option is crafted to perfection and complement the bread that they bake in-house every single day. Even if you’re not out for brunch, you can enjoy a croissant or a slice of their chocolate espresso cake for an afternoon of studying. From their Eggs Benedict on their famous sourdough bread to their croissant sandwich, you are sure to enjoy a classy brunch here any day of the week.

Indie Coffee

In this crafty location on Regent Street, this tiny little coffee shop is home to the best waffles you will ever find on any given day of the week. From their Red and White Waffle to the Chocolate Chocolate Chip Waffle, you’re destined to fall into a waffle coma. Not only are their waffles superb for a morning before class, but their breakfast sandwiches really hit the spot when you need them to. From their Pesto Omelette Focaccia sandwich to their Marathon Bagel, you’re bound to find something you like. Plus, their coffee will literally send you over the moon with their new fall drinks!

Marigold Kitchen

Marigold Kitchen takes a more feisty role in your brunch adventure, gathering Cuban spices and flare throughout their food that’s waiting to please those brunch taste buds! Their Chorizo and Sweet Corn Relish Omelette calls for daring egg lovers and their Chili Poached Eggs calls on the classic Eggs Benedict-craving human to test their lovely take on brunch. Marigold is a cute and fun place to take your friends for a classy, vibrant brunch.

Graze

Right on Capitol Square, Graze will give you the brunch experience of a lifetime. Their brunch is filled with the highest of quality foods, leaving you wanting so much more once you’re done with them. Their Fried Chicken and a Biscuit Sandwich is sure to deliver as well as their Belgian Waffle. If you’re feeling a little extra fancy, their oyster selection is one of the best in Madison and is sure to be looked into! Graze treats you right, and that’s what we all deserve!

Short Stack Eatery

Short Stack has become that fun place in Madison that really provides their customers with the feeling of acceptance and pride for their food, and most importantly: THEIR PEOPLE! From personal experience, I can definitely say that their chocolate chip pancakes are literally out of this world, but on the other hand their secret menu item every single day keeps you coming back to fill the void of mystery in your life. From their pancakes to their eggs, your life will never be the same once you’ve eaten Short Stack.

Mickie’s Dairy Bar

Right at the edge of Monroe Street, you’ll find Mickie’s Dairy Bar right across from Camp Randall. The game day breakfast tradition really changes when Mickie’s is on the table. This location is set up like an old fashioned diner and that Saturday brunch that you always craved will always be filled when you head to Mickie’s. Their classic dish, the Scrambler is this enormous plate of eggs scrambled with three toppings of your choice, all topped with gravy! It’s taken me about two leftover sessions to finish — it was that large. Nonetheless, I loved every bite of it and I’m thinking you will too!

Everly

Much like Cento, Everly definitely provides everyone with the power that is a boujee and fun brunch. Their menu heavily consists of avocado and salmon dishes that have me mouth watering by the minute. However, if you’re not into avocado and salmon, don’t worry! Their selection of class brunch favorites, like their Huevos Rancheros, Classic Eggs and Bacon breakfast, get the brunch feels going hard.

Cafe Hollander

Cafe Hollander is a New Orleans, locally grown restaurant that’s made to please for a weekend brunch. From dishes like their Smoked Salmon Scramble to their Chicken n’ Wafflebrown, this brunch will land you with a smile on your face once you’re done. This cute restaurant out by Hilldale is a crowd pleaser in their brunch portions and their willingness to bring the best of local food right to you!

Sunroom Cafe

If you’re looking for a daintier place to grab brunch, the Sunroom Cafe is the place for you! This is also a place where you’ll find truly classic breakfast foods rather than the twist that many of the other brunch places I’ve listed have on their menu. From a Nova Lox Bagel to a classic ham and cheese omelette, nothing will disappoint when you make your way over to the Sunroom Cafe.

If it’s not apparent yet, I am the ULTIMATE lover of brunch! Literally, I see nothing as the greatest meal of the day but breakfast foods served way after your responsibilities are supposed to start. Brunch to me means the weekend, and I know I am definitely planning on venturing out for brunch MANY times this semester. Feel free to check out these places and share this universal love of brunch together!
