A few titles that I’m excited to watch soon!

Does anyone else totally love to read the book before they watch the film or show based on it? I like to create my own images of the characters and cast my own understanding of the story before I watch it brought to life. But I do love to watch it brought to life – I love when stories that I’ve spent time with and grown to love are brought to the screen. If you’re looking for some titles to read before their adaptations are released, here are three books to choose from.

1. “Daisy Jones and the Six” by Taylor Jenkins Reid

If you want to dive deep into the fictitious tale of a band – and their highs and lows on the path to stardom – this is the book to read. If it’s been on your To Be Read (TBR) list for a while, now is the perfect time to start it before the show releases in March 2023. Bonus: if you love this book, check out Reid’s other novel, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, before its film adaptation releases.

2. “It Ends With Us” by Colleen Hoover

This book follows Lily Bloom, a young woman in Boston, as she navigates a new love with the return of an old one. Content warning: the book does contain detailed scenes of domestic abuse. Now, there aren’t many details out about the film, other than the script being completed and Justin Baldoni owning the rights, but I think it’s worth reading sooner rather than later in preparation.

3. “Red White & Royal Blue” by Casey McQuiston

I’m an avid romance reader, and this fun, queer romantic comedy about a British prince and United States president’s son falling for each other has cemented itself at the top of my ‘favorite books list.’ If you’ve seen it floating around #BookTok or anywhere else on the internet, I would argue that it’s worth all the hype it gets. Why not pick it up before it hits Prime Video as a film?

The upcoming years will see quite a few titles transformed into films or shows, but these are just a few of the ones that I’m most excited to see (and ones I think everyone should read first). If you’re struggling for inspiration on what book to read next or looking for something to be excited about in the new year, consider checking out one of these titles and diving into the story.
