The best Swiftie songs to add to your fall playlist

In the midst of October, when the autumn leaves begin to flutter around in various colors, something in the air just calls for T-Swift. Taylor Swift is hands-down the fall-artist (though it’s more than acceptable to listen to her in all seasons). When “August slips away” and the fall breezes swoop in, celebrate the shift in seasons with this curated T-Swift fall playlist.

1. “Begin Again”

“But on a Wednesday, in a cafe, I watched it begin again”

Fall is the season of new beginnings. Big changes come left and right, whether it be the start of a new school year or the shedding of the leaves from the trees. “Begin Again” captures the exhilarating feeling of a new spark forming. The start of a new relationship is an exciting and nerve-wracking time. Tay perfectly executes the jumble of feelings associated with putting yourself back out there after a hard breakup.

2. “Back to December”

“… Realized I loved you in the fall”

Despite Red being Taylor’s signature fall-feels album, “Back to December” is an honorable mention. The title is quite deceiving; the song details the beautiful relationship Swift fostered with Taylor Lautner throughout the end of summer and early fall, which ultimately ended in–you guessed it–December. One of my favorite things about this song is Taylor’s vulnerability about detailing the mistakes she made in this relationship. T-Swift is known for her deep-cuts against exes, but this song’s narrative takes a different perspective.

3. “red”

Like the colors in autumn, so bright, just before they lose it all”

What song could be more perfectly suited for fall? “Red” does an incredible job of capturing a whirlwind romance that ultimately leaves you breathless. Taylor guides us through this wondrous, heart-wrenching love story through shifting colors, much like fall progressing. The rush of an all-consuming love is just what we need this time of the year.

4. “Everything Has Changed”

“All I know since yesterday, is everything has changed”

Fall represents the ever changing nature of our lives. One moment you’re comfortably going about your day and the next thing you know, you could meet the love of your life. Meeting one person can change your entire life, and Taylor does a great job of portraying this. As the seasons change and chilly fall winds replace warm summer breezes, open yourself up to the opportunity of change.

5. “All Too Well (10 minute version)”

“Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place”

I’ve saved the best for last: the ultimate, gut-wrenching, all-consuming Swiftie fall vibes song. The 10-minute version of “All Too Well” will leave you speechless and chilled, not just from the cool fall air, but from Taylor’s master lyricism in capturing a slow-burn heartbreak. The bridge of this song is super empowering on a crisp fall morning when the last thing you want to do is walk to class. Taylor’s frustration and heartbreak brews throughout the song, ultimately leaving you emotional by the end of it.

If you’re looking for songs to inspire this fall season, Taylor Swift is definitely the artist for you. Her lyricism and melody are made perfectly for a crisp fall day. Listening to Taylor pour her heart out over her past heartbreaks will prepare you for healthy change amongst the shift of seasons. Whether it’s these five songs or her other masterfully-written music, you can’t go wrong with T-Swift on your fall-playlist.
