Tuesday, November 6, voters across the country showed up to the polls and shook up our government composition as we know it. Below are the results for both the Wisconsin election and from across the nation!
Governor and Lieutenant Governor:
Democrat Tony Evers won the election for governor over incumbent Republican Scott Walker by a 1.2 percent margin. Due to laws that Walker put into place, there will not be a recount because the results were greater than 1 percent.
Attorney General:
Democrat Josh Kaul won the position of a general on Tuesday. His opponent was incumbent Brad Schimel. He won by 1.4 percent.
Secretary of State:
Incumbent Democrat Doug La Follette won the position of Secretary of State over Republican Jay Schroeder. La Follette won the race by 5.6 percent.
State Treasurer:
Sarah Godlewski won the position of State Treasurer. The Democratic party won the race by 4.1 percent over opponent Travis Hartwig.
U.S. Senator:
Incumbent Democrat Tammy Baldwin won the seat to represent Wisconsin in the U.S. Senate over Republican opponent Leah Vukmir. She won the seat by 10.8 percent
National Results:
House:
The House of Representatives is currently in control and leans in favor of the Democrats. They gained 32 seats.
Senate:
The Senate stayed in control by the Republicans. They were able to gain two seats, leaving the count 51- 46.
