I’m sure that by now you have at least heard of Selena Gomez’s newest project: a makeup line consisting of 14 different products. After I saw the announcement that this brand would be sold at Sephora, I had to get online and order some items right away. However, it wasn’t just the mesmerizing shades that grabbed my attention; it was Selena’s ideals she had created for the brand itself. Rare Beauty advocates for finding the beauty within. It’s about letting go of the high expectations that women face and learning to do your makeup in a way that makes you feel beautiful.
Here are my thoughts on the Rare Beauty products that I have been so lucky to try!
- Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation and Brightening Concealer

This foundation and concealer combo is super lightweight and perfect for everyday wear. Finding the right foundation shade can be a tough game, but my experience with Rare Beauty proved easier than most. The foundation and concealer come in the same range of shades, so you can either have a perfect match or change it according to your preferences. The applicator makes the product super easy to apply, making these two products some of my favorites from the line!
- Always an Optimist Illuminating Primer

I made sure to start off my full face of Rare Beauty with Selena’s primer. I noticed that using the primer made my face makeup stay on all day long and really brightened my complexion. There was no creasing by the time I took my makeup off, making this product another success.
- Always an Optimist 4 in 1 Set and Prime Mist

I am not a huge fan of setting my makeup with a spray, however I thought it would be beneficial to invest in a spray that I could use to dampen my beauty blender and apply my foundation with. Although I don’t have much prior experience with setting sprays, I do believe that was a great purchase. The spray has a light, refreshing scent to it and made blending a very seamless and easy process.
- Brow Harmony Pencil and Gel

This is hands down my favorite product in the entire Rare Beauty line. Saying Selena crushed this product is an understatement. I have always been pretty picky about what I use to do my brows, never straying away from Anastasia’s Brow Wiz. However, for a cheaper price than Anastasia, Selena includes a creamy brow pencil on one end and a tinted brow gel on the other. I love how my brows look when using this product and am so excited to pick this up into my everyday routine.
- Soft Pinch Liquid Blush

I have loved using liquid and cream blushes lately over regular powder blushes. It is so easy to control how pigmented you want the product to look on your face and super easy to blend out with either your fingers or a brush. Rare Beauty’s liquid blushes come in beautiful shades and look so natural on your face. I currently have the shade “bliss” and I can’t wait to try more in the future.
- Positive Light Liquid Luminizer Highlight

Highlighter is one of my favorite products in my makeup routine. I’ve tried many different kinds in the past, however this was my first time trying a liquid highlighter. I found that it was very easy to apply and blended out very nice. It was more of a natural glow, but it complimented the rest of the products beautifully.
- Lip Souffle Matte Cream Lipstick

I’ve always found that matte lipsticks can be a hit or a miss. I love the look of them, but sometimes they can be too drying, or in my case, cause an allergic reaction (I still love you Kylie Cosmetics). However, the Rare Beauty matte lipsticks are super soft and feel like you are wearing nothing on your lips. There are a total of 12 shades currently, including Selena’s signature red lip. I think this matte lipstick is definitely worth a try.
- With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm

Rare Beauty’s lip balm is surprisingly pigmented and very moisturizing. Sometimes it can be hard to find the perfect balance of the two, but Selena did a great job. I currently have the shade “blessed”, which is a bright coral pink.
- Blot and Glow Touch-up Kit

The blot and glow kit from Rare Beauty includes oil absorbing blotting sheets and a powder brush that already has setting powder in it. The packaging is very slick and super convenient to carry around in your purse for touch ups on the go. Instead of having to buy a new kit each time, the brand conventely sells refills of the blotting sheets. This product is perfect for people who find their makeup getting oily throughout the day.
Overall, I was far from disappointed with Rare Beauty. I did not use a single product that I would not use again, which is not something that happens very often. Selena Gomez took two years to perfect this broad collection, but her work definitely paid off. This is easily one of the best celebrity makeup lines out there. Not only does it consist of many exceptional products, but it encourages women everywhere to love and appreciate their own personal definition of beauty.
