An Open Letter to My Puppies

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

Dear Khloe & Fiona,

Thank you for always being the star of my Snapchats and always giving me your best ‘Vogue’ pose when I want to take a picture. Sorry for yelling at you when you don’t stand still, I’m just trying to show you off. You will never know how much I brag about you, but know I’m always chatting about how darn cute you are.

Thank you for never failing to greet me at the door with all your love, what a homecoming it is each and every time. Thanks for showering me with kisses no matter how long I’ve been gone. Whether a minute or months, you miss me just the same and never forget about me.

I’m sorry for yelling at you when you bark too much or are being too loud. You’re just excited, and sometimes I forget that. Thank you for always trying to protect me when unknown people come around. Even though you could never cause much harm because of your size, know that I appreciate the body guard. I’m sorry for when I lock you out of my room because I’m annoyed. I’m sorry I don’t walk you as much as I should and yell at you when you never stop playing. Sometimes I don’t realize how bored you must be.

Thank you for all the laughs and giggles you give me when you do something stupid. From falling off the couch or crashing into the screen door, you will never know how much you make me laugh sometimes. Thank you for always being the star of the show when my friends come over; know that they all love you and find you hilarious. Well, most of the time.

I hope you find comfort in me when your scared of the rain, when mom whips out the vacuum, or when the dish washer is too loud. Know that I’m always there to hold you when the going gets tough, just like you are for me.

Never think I don’t love you when I yell at you to stop. Never think I don’t like you when I yell at you for peeing in my room or when you chew on my phone charger. Never think I don’t want you when I scream at you for stealing all my socks, leaving me with an abundant amount of unmatched ones. Sometimes, you do things that drive me crazy. But I will always adore you.

Thank you for being my most loyal best friend and my favorite species on this planet. Your love is unconditional, and I couldn’t thank you enough for showering me with kisses whenever I need them. Whenever I’m tired, sad, happy, mad, you’re there to be my cuddle buddy to celebrate the good times and to console during the sad. Your presence is there to comfort, to play or to just be with me whenever I need, and that’s a great friend in my book. You give the utmost support with no words, and that’s something I will forever appreciate, even though I don’t tell you enough.

You may be little, but your love is mighty. I know you love me, too, and I thank you for that.

Sincerely,

(Your favorite sister) Alisa

I am a senior at UW Madison and third year student in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. After pursuing a major in Strategic Communications and a certificate in digital studies, I'm hoping to be the next Chelsea Handler or get adopted by the Kardashian clan. When I'm not roaming Madison or doing school work, you can find me being cooler than my twin sister, taking selfies without any shame, or quoting Gilmore Girls on social media. I'm a lover of all things fashion, lifestyle and puppies. I'm so excited about being a writer for Her Campus and hope you enjoy all my thoughts and my attempts at being funny with you!
Madison is a senior at the University of Wisconsin pursuing a major in English Literature with minors in Entrepreneurship and Digital Media Studies. Post college, Madison plans to complete her dreams of being the next Anna Wintour. In her free time, Madison enjoys listening to Eric Hutchinson, eating dark chocolate, and FaceTiming her puppies back home. When she isn't online shopping, or watching YouTube bloggers (ie Fleur DeForce), Madison loves exploring the vast UW Campus and all it has to offer! She is very excited to take this next step in her collegiette career as Campus Correspondent and Editor-in-Chief for HC Wisco. On Wisconsin!
