You’ve probably scrolled down your Twitter and Instagram feeds numerous times this year to see a number of new beauty products on the market. With so many launches this year, it can be hard to decide what to spend your money on. Don’t fret! Her Campus Wisconsin is here to help.

The criteria taken into consideration for this list include pigmentation, inclusivity (for foundations and concealers), longevity, price comparison to the product and overall performance.

BUY! James Charles x Morphe Eyeshadow Palette ($39)

Although this palette was released at the end of 2018, it’s been a difficult palette to purchase and has been restocked a number of times this year. This palette emphasizes giving the consumer the ability to “release their inner artist.” With 39 eyeshadows and 7 of those coming in larger pans, this palette has both neutrals and pops of color suitable for just about any look you can imagine. Morphe does offer a 10% off your purchase on their website, bringing the palette down to $35.10 pre-tax and shipping. Overall, the palette has received positive reviews and is definitely an item you’ll want to check out.

BUST! Urban Decay Naked Reloaded Palette ($44)

Urban Decay revolutionized eyeshadow palettes with their Naked eyeshadow collections. For $44 you’re paying for 12 eyeshadows, which is about $3.67 per eyeshadow. This isn’t necessarily a bad deal, but it’s not the best. Chances are you have a palette in your collection already that has a color scheme similar to this one. In fact, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry palette is one that has been compared to this one. If you have one of those, you can definitely pass on this. Based on swatches, these don’t appear to be the most pigmented and although the formula overall should resemble that of the Naked palettes, it’s not anything new. This palette releases in late February, hitting Ulta on March 4th.

DEPENDS! NARS Skin Deep Eyeshadow Palette ($59)

With both warm mattes and shimmer eyeshadows, NARS markets this palette as multi-use and emphasizes its longevity. The Skin Deep Eyeshadow Palette has mostly positive reviews with customers raving about the pigmentation and blendability. This palette has 12 shades for $59, about $4.92 per eyeshadow. In terms of cost, it definitely is a pricer palette to welcome into your collection —but if you’re willing to splurge, it would be a good addition. On the other hand, if you don’t buy it, it won’t really impact your daily look.

BUY! ColourPop Lux Blur Lipstick ($7)

16 different shades for $7—you can’t get much better than that. If you’re a fan of a matte finish, this lipstick leaves a blurred and smooth effect on your lips. There’s definitely some neutral colors as well as some pops of color like the shade “Sorry Not Sorry.”

DEPENDS! BECCA BECCA x Khloe Kardashian & Malika Haqq Ultimate Lipstick Love ($24)

This lipstick comes in four shades with warm, neutral, and cool undertones. Most of the reviews for this product are positive and many mention the gorgeous satin finish as well as the color payoff. The product itself is noted to last for 8 hours. $24 for a lipstick isn’t for everyone, but this would be a good addition to your collection if you enjoy celebrity collaborations.

BUST! Makeup Revolution Matte Lip ($6)

Makeup Revolution has been known to create “knockoff” products of more expensive beauty favorites. Their Conceal and Define concealer has been compared to Tarte’s Shape Tape Concealer and can be considered a dupe. This matte lip, however, is one product of theirs that you can pass on. The shades on the packaging can be a bit deceiving and the overall performance is really nothing special. For $6 you can definitely find a better lip product.

DEPENDS. Tarte Face Tape Foundation ($39)

This was a hard one to decide on. If you have oily or oily to normal skin, chances are you may really like this foundation. If you range more on the normal-dry to dry, you really won’t like it, as a lot of customers have mentioned how drying the formula is. Another thing to consider is the fact Tarte had originally released the Shape Tape Foundation last year with a limited range, which is virtually unacceptable given how big the brand is and how wide the range of complexion is. This new collection, however, comes in 50 shades and 5 undertones. If you have oily skin, this might be for you.

BUST ! Morphe Fluidity Foundation ($18)

This foundation was a bit of a letdown in the makeup community. With an incredible 60 (yes 60!) range foundation line, this foundation faced backlash due to the lack of representation in Morphe’s advertising. In terms of performance, many people have noted that the foundation smells like paint and  has even stained some people’s skin. It’s also important to include that the foundation can show more of your smile lines and enhance some of your pores as well.

BUY! L’Oreal Paris Infallible Full Wear Concealer ($12.99)

For a drugstore brand, 25 shades can be a little unusual, but L’Oreal has stepped up their game. This concealer is perfect for those of us on a budget and what’s even better is the coverage! A full coverage and long-wear concealer that creases minimally. What more could you want?

BUY! Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer ($26)

Rihanna is all about being inclusive with her Fenty Beauty makeup line. This concealer comes in 50 shades. For a higher end concealer, $26 seems to be an average cost, so you’re getting what you pay for. Performance wise, this concealer blurs your skin and leaves it looking initially flawless. Some reviews have mentioned that the concealer did crease throughout the day—but what concealer doesn’t? If you want to try something new, I would definitely give this concealer a chance.
