My Friends and I Started Soup Sunday, and You Should Too

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

It might even cure Sunday scaries…

Three Sundays ago, my friends and I woke up tired, sniffly and craving warm soup. Tired of Cup-O-Noodles and canned versions, we decided that today was going to be the day we made our own homemade chicken noodle soup. We went to the local Fresh Market in Madison and stepped into the seemingly uncharted waters of soup making. After gathering chicken broth, mirepoix (a fancy soup term that means carrots, celery and onions!), chicken breasts and noodles, we hit the kitchen!

Making soup is so much easier than we thought. After combining simple ingredients into a pot and letting it simmer for a few hours, we had delicious, fresh soup that cured our Sunday Scaries! Soup Sunday is now a weekly tradition and each week we try out a new recipe. We have curated a list of some of our favorites so you too can participate in Soup Sunday!

Delicious Tomato Soup (with a side of grilled cheese, of course!)

If you are craving a creamy, warm soup, this recipe is for you. Tomato soup is always delicious with a side of grilled cheese and this easy recipe is perfect for any meal.

Classic Chicken Noodle Soup

Chicken Noodle Soup is the cure to everything. This recipe is so easy and will be a staple in my kitchen! Not only is this soup the ultimate comfort food, it will taste just like your grandma’s famous soup.

Creamy Tortellini Soup

This soup is UNBELIEVABLE! It is creamy, cheesy and delicious. My friends and I agree that this was our favorite soup thus far. This recipe tastes like you are dining in a fine restaurant and I definitely recommend trying it!

As for our next Soup Sunday, we are going to take on Tortilla Soup. It only takes an hour to make and is flavor packed with deliciousness.

Soup Sunday is my favorite part of the week and, hopefully, soon it will be yours too!
