The difference between American and Argentine men
So I’ve been in Buenos Aires for a little over a month now, and in this time I couldn’t help but notice some intrinsic and obvious differences between North American and South American men. I’d like to take this time to break it down:
- Argentine men know what they want. While this could be a redeeming quality, many times the men here come off as a tad too aggressive. It’s perfectly okay to smile at someone on the street, but a smile to a guy on the dance floor could be mistaken for an invitation to come hither. My friends and I have had to discreetly shimmy away from many an Argentine as the direct result of a misdirected smile.
- Argentine men aren’t afraid to show their feminine side. Argentine men do not abide by the same “macho” standards as their North American counterparts. Rather than the baggy pants and backwards baseball cap look that we often see on our men at home, Argentine men often wear form?fitting clothing, grow their hair a bit longer and are always meticulously shaven. They also greet everyone – men and women alike – with a kiss, making them seem as friendly as they are handsome.
- BUT… American men smell better. True, this is a simple observation, but one that is worth mentioning. Maybe it’s the permanently hot weather or something in the water, but my friends and I have all come to this conclusion on separate occasions. Go figure.
