I’d Like to Thank the Academy…Oscar 2014 Highlights

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

Roll out the red carpet, grab a bowl of popcorn, brace yourself for the elaborate dresses of each nominee, make sure you’ve seen all the essential films nominated for best picture, and get excited for the many memorable moments that occur year after year at the Oscars! As the 87th Academy Awards approach, let’s take a minute to reminisce on last year’s Awards.

1.     We can’t forget wishing we could have photobombed Ellen’s selfie with all of our favorite stars!

2.     What about Lupita Nyong’o’s breathtaking dress voted as the best of the Oscars by numerous fashion and lifestyle magazines?

3.     And her winning her first Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 12 Years a Slave.

4.     Ellen taking a trip to the Emerald City, sporting the pink puffy dress made famous by Glinda from The Wizard of Oz wears.

5. And we most certainly can’t get out of our minds Jennifer Lawrence falling on the red carpet…AGAIN.

6.     John Travolta massacring Idina Menzel’s name, but luckily she just “let it go.”  (Who’s Adele Dazeem???)

7.     And vowing to become a pizza delivery man so that we too can bring Ellen and friends a pizza pie as they watch the Oscars.

8.     Lastly, we’ll always remember the excitement that comes with the Awards each year.  Despite the trademark music interrupting each speech, we’ll always remember the thrill in the voices of each nominee as they accept a well-deserved award of a lifetime and an absolute dream come true.

As the 87th Academy Awards get closer, we’re looking forward to many more exciting and unforgettable moments!  We’d all like to thank The Academy…
