How to Survive Senioritis

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

With graduation on the horizon, it’s easy to fall victim to senioritis. Let’s be real: some of us never bounced back from senioritis in high school. But even if you think you caught senioritis years ago, you’ll be thankful to get a hold on it before graduation so that your life is somewhat in order come commencement day. Here are seven tips on how to survive senioritis.

1.     Get organized.

If you get too caught up in your laziness, you may lose track of important due dates and events. Don’t stress out last minute; instead, stay organized and keep track of what is ahead.

2.     Do well on your first exam.

This will help you to prepare so you don’t have to play catch up at the end of the year. Do well on your assignments and exams early on, so when you do start to majorly lose steam, if you haven’t already, your grades won’t suffer too much.

3.     Get your applications done in advance.

Graduating from college means you’re most likely going to need a job or will be attending graduate school. For either of these options, you’ll definitely have applications to fill out. Get those applications filled out in advance so you can enjoy your last few months of college.

4.     Remember, you already put in so much hard work.

It’s almost been four full years of all-nighters, terrible group projects, 10-page research papers, and so much more. With all that hard work you’ve already put in, don’t let your grades slip now. End on a high note, Badgers!

5.     Coffee and sleep!

Okay, let’s be real: some of us, including myself, will fully give into senioritis. But if and when you do, you’ll turn to the two most important things: coffee and sleep. Stay energized and awake so you’ll finish the work you need to get done.

6.     Remember those that have supported you.

Your family has stood by your side, and for a lucky few, they paid for your college. Don’t forget all those moments where they stayed up late talking you down after getting a bad grade or congratulated you on a good one. You’ve come so far, so don’t let your parents and loved ones down now.

7.     Make a Bucky list.

After all the hard work is done, it’s important to have some fun. Make your Bucky list (like a bucket list but SO much better) and check everything you’ve ever wanted to do off your list. You’ve got some time, so start now!

We all want our last few months of college to be the most memorable times of our lives, but if you want to truly enjoy every moment, you’ll have to prepare in advance. Don’t let your senioritis make you lose sight of what’s important. Finish strong!
