I’m three semesters into college and I already have learned that there are a couple of very important things that, if not respected, your joy and happiness will be severely limited. First, and perhaps most importantly, school spirit is a thing: get used to it and throw on every piece of red clothing you own, or you transfer schools. Second, people don’t work out just for the high that comes with completing a seven mile run, but to lose the seven pounds gained in alcohol weight the weekend prior. And third, Sunday brunch is a must. We’ve posted articles on what to wear for the ultimate showcase of school spirit and how to dress fabulously while you sweat off pound after pound, but we have yet to give our audience what they really need… a how-to guide to brunch.
1. While you may have absolutely loved wearing all black out the night before, brunch should be a livelier event. Think more Serena Van Der Woodsen, less Jenny Humphrey.
2. When choosing a shoe, make sure you keep the season in mind. Long gone should your cork wedges be; it’s time to say hello to your favorite booties.
3. Always consider a dress before throwing a pair of pants on. It’s a simple way to look and feel classier. Okay, let’s be honest, no one wants to be that girl who loosens her belt after brunch. Yes, we’re aware of the amount of food which will be eaten, but a dress will allow more room and flexibility to go above and beyond the call of duty. So wear a dress and enjoy your meal.
4. We all know this lovely Wisco weather won’t last long… the impending winter is inevitable. However, that doesn’t mean your parka needs to come out of the vacuum seal bag just yet. Practice pairing jackets of different fabrics with cute hats, gloves, and scarves. Check out how our Editor in Chief pulled off a leather jacket and an adorable hat!
5. Finally, go with a great group of friends. Our team went to Brocach for brunch, and bonded over coffee, eggs, mimosas (duh) and pancakes! I can’t think of a better way to spend a Sunday than surrounded by fabulous friends and endless cups of coffee.
