High Waisted Skirts and Thanksgiving Dinner

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

Oh it’s that time of year again.

What time you may ask? The time where some of us begin to nurture our food babies a little too much.

Well do not despair, because this Thanksgiving you won’t need to pop a button on your jeans, because you will be prepared.

So what’s the first part of your preparation?

Not wearing pants at all.

Now don’t worry, I’m not suggesting you shouldn’t wear anything. We wouldn’t want to give your Grandma a heart attack.

What I’m telling you to do is embrace the wonders of the high waisted skirt, especially for fall try to stick to rich hues. Deep browns, greens, and purples are especially striking.

I picked a neutral tan skirt because it gives us more flexibility for colors on the top.

Now to try and minimize any extra bloating you may feel, stick with a fitted top. I realize this sounds counter intuitive, but a tight top paired with the high waisted skirt will really accentuate your waist and make it look smaller.

To keep your legs warm under your skirt, use Urban Outfitter’s Fleece Lined tights. They are wonderful and will keep your legs warm.

For a shirt try this deep purple one from American Eagle. A cardigan is a good way to dress this look up, or even give it a little extra spice if you use a funky pattern.

Finally instead of adding jewelry, try a scarf.

One final trick to looking slimmer is to look taller. An easy way to do this is by wearing heels! Boots like these are not only adorable, but they make your legs look great.

There you have it! The lazy girl’s way to navigating her Thanksgiving outfit.
